Particle Approximation of Some Landau Equations
Abstract. We consider a class of nonlinear partial-differential equations, including the spatially homogeneous Fokker-Planck-Landau equation for Maxwell (or pseudo-Maxwell) molecules. Continuing the work of [6, 7, 4], we propose a probabilistic interpretation of such a P.D.E. in terms of a nonlinear stochastic differential equation driven by a standard Brownian motion. We derive a numerical sch...
متن کاملMulti-Particle Quasi Exactly Solvable Difference Equations
Several explicit examples of multi-particle quasi exactly solvable ‘discrete’ quantum mechanical Hamiltonians are derived by deforming the well-known exactly solvable multi-particle Hamiltonians, the Ruijsenaars-Schneider-van Diejen systems. These are difference analogues of the quasi exactly solvable multi-particle systems, the quantum Inozemtsev systems obtained by deforming the well-known ex...
متن کاملExact solution of the Landau–Lifshitz equations for a radiating charged particle in the Coulomb potential
We solve exactly the classical non-relativistic Landau–Lifshitz equations of motion for a charged particle moving in a Coulomb potential, including radiation damping. The general solution involves the Painlevè transcendent of type II. It confirms our physical intuition that a negatively charged classical particle will spiral into the nucleus, supporting the validity of the Landau–Lifshitz equat...
متن کاملThe Ginzburg-Landau Equations for Superconductivity with Random Fluctuations
Thermal fluctuations and material inhomogeneities have a large effect on superconducting phenomena, possibly inducing transitions to the non-superconducting state. To gain a better understanding of these effects, the Ginzburg–Landau model is studied in situations for which the described physical processes are subject to uncertainty. An adequate description of such processes is possible with the...
متن کاملBifurcations with local gauge symmetries in the Ginzburg-Landau equations
An interesting class of physical systems are those that exhibit local gauge symmetries: internal invariances that can be implemented independently at any space-time point. Systems in which these symmetries are spontaneously broken exhibit remarkable properties such as superconductivity, and if such systems also possess spatial symmetry, pattern formation can accompany the gauge symmetry-breakin...
